Proteomics, the large-scale study of all proteins an organism or system, is a powerful tool for studying biological systems. It can provide holistic view physiological and biochemical states given samples through identification quantification large numbers peptides proteins. In forensic science, proteomics be used as confirmatory orthogonal technique well-built genomic analyses. Proteomics highly valuable in cases where nucleic acids are absent degraded, such hair bone samples. to identify body fluids, ethnic group, gender, individual, estimate post-mortem interval using bone, muscle, decomposition fluid Compared analysis, better global picture sample. has been science wide range sample types applications. this review, we briefly introduce proteomic methods, including preparation techniques, data acquisition liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, analysis database search, spectral library de novo sequencing. We also summarize recent applications past decade with special focus on human samples, hair, fingernail, brain, fingermark, address challenges, considerations, future developments proteomics.
